Raska: A Fresh Brush Font for Modern Branding

Opening a blank brand board one morning, I was looking for something that felt both unique and approachable. The project was for a small handmade soap shop, and I needed a font that could bring warmth and creativity to their identity. That’s when I stumbled upon Raska—a fresh and modern brush font that immediately caught my eye.

A Versatile Display Font with Character

Raska is a display font that feels handcrafted yet polished. Its soft, flowing strokes give it a sense of movement and energy, while the clean lines ensure it doesn’t feel too chaotic. It has a friendly, approachable vibe that works well for creative brands looking to convey authenticity without sacrificing professionalism.

I tested it on the logo concept first. The initial draft had a simple logotype with a minimalist sans serif, but Raska added a layer of personality that the other fonts couldn’t match. It gave the brand a warm, artisanal feel—perfect for a product made with care and intention.

The font’s character set includes a range of alternates and ligatures, which allowed me to fine-tune the look for different applications. Whether I needed a more decorative version for a packaging label or a cleaner variant for a website header, Raska adapted well to each scenario.

Testing Raska in Real Branding Scenarios

Next, I placed Raska on a packaging mockup. The design called for a soft, organic look, and Raska fit seamlessly into the layout. It worked beautifully on a product label alongside a subtle serif font for body text. The contrast between the two styles helped establish visual hierarchy without overwhelming the viewer.

On social media graphics, Raska stood out as a headline font. Used in short phrases or taglines, it brought a sense of playfulness and creativity to posts that were otherwise minimalistic. It didn’t clash with the color palette and actually enhanced the overall mood of the content.

For the business cards, I paired Raska with a sleek sans serif for the contact information. This combination balanced the hand-drawn quality of Raska with the clarity of the supporting typeface. The result was professional yet inviting—exactly what the brand needed to make a lasting impression.

In a website header, Raska performed well at larger sizes, maintaining legibility even when used in a bold weight. However, I noticed that it wasn’t ideal for long blocks of text. As expected, this font shines best as a display or headline font rather than a body typeface.

When and Where to Use Raska

Raska is best suited for projects where a touch of personality and artistry is desired. It works exceptionally well in logo design, brand identity systems, packaging design, social media graphics, and web headers. Its versatility makes it a great choice for creative studios, freelancers, and small businesses looking to stand out in a crowded market.

However, it may not be the best fit for formal corporate use or any project requiring long-form text. The brush-like strokes can become less readable at smaller sizes or in dense paragraphs. For these cases, pairing Raska with a more traditional serif or sans serif font is recommended to maintain readability and balance.

If you're working on a boutique identity project, a café visual refresh, or a skincare product brand, Raska can add a refreshing twist to your design. Just be sure to test it thoroughly before using it in final client work.

Practical Tips for Using Raska

Before committing to Raska for a client project, take the time to review its included styles, weights, and alternates. Testing it across different mediums—print, digital, and social media—is essential to see how it performs under various conditions.

Font pairing is also key. If you're using Raska as a headline or logo font, consider complementing it with a clean serif or sans serif font for body copy. This ensures a cohesive and professional look across all design elements.

Don’t forget to check the commercial font licensing before using Raska in client work, brand identity, packaging, templates, merchandise, websites, or print-on-demand products. Ensuring proper usage rights will save you from potential issues down the line.

Raska is a fresh and modern brush font that brings a unique energy to any design. When used thoughtfully, it can elevate a brand’s visual identity and create a memorable impression on audiences. Whether you're designing for a handmade shop, a creative studio, or an online business, Raska offers a versatile and stylish option that feels both intentional and authentic.
